What is learner model? Your responses

  1. I think a learner model is a pattern that people use learner related variables to reveal the characteristics of learners' learning. In the model, there may be many variables relating to learners knowledge, skills, strategies, gains, personalities, emotions, motivations and learning behaviors.
  2. The learner model is a model accommodates all of the variables that are recorded, represented, and tracked of characteristics of the learner before, during, and after learning.
  3. Learner model is to know what learners do and feel during the whole learning process with quantitative ways to track learners' action in the learning system.  Learner model aims to accommodate all variables could be in the learning system to help learners. In fact, the learning model needs to track learning's action forever since learners would change all the time. However, for financial and timing limitation, we now could only seek the best interest rather than the best leaner model.
  4. The learner model: In order to make computer-based tutors better teach real learners,  a large amount of data about learners' cognitional, emotional, motivational and other psychological stages in the learning process is collected and stored in advance.
  5. Definition:A large amount of data about learners' cognitional, emotional, motivational and other psychological stages in the learning process is collected and stored in advance, which is called the learner model.
  6. A Learning Model refers to including all of the variables and analyzing the students' learning behaviors that are recorded, represented, and tracked characteristics of the learner before, during, and after learning.
  7. I think a learner model should describe a learner's learning styles \previous knowledge\error model\his or her ability on self-regulation\his or her current academic emotion and so on. In a word, a learner model should help to decide which knowledge point and what type of knowledge representation should be recommended to learners, so that they can have a better learning outcome and be ready to continue to learn.
  8. A learner model characterizes the cognitive and non-cognitive states of the learner during the learning process. In this definition, the cognitive state encompasses the "mastery" status in classic learning theory, such as Bayesian knowledge tracing.
  9. In my understanding, the learner model is about the pattern of the student or user' s learning behavior, performance or experience in the learning process. Good learner modeling may help us have a good understanding of the students' learning ability and potentiality.
  10. A learner model is a representation of a real student. Since we only consider certain aspects of the student, we need to assume that the model is limited to fully characterize a student. Without a learning model, we can't have adaptive learning systems.

  11. I think the learner model is a  mathematical model abstracted from students' learning data. It is used to describe the current state of the student, like medical diagnosis and predict the student's learning path.   We can use is to give students more personalized guidance In case of insufficient teacher resources.

  12. Learner model is a way to depict the characteristics of learners in an intelligent tutoring system. These characteristics may include their knowledge, skill, ability, motivations, dispositions, and so on.

  13. I think that leaner model is about integrating systematic factors affecting on learning, the factors may be from learner personality characteristics, or from learning situation, or from instructional methods, learning model is aimed at how to utilize this factors to help learner on multimedia learning.

  14. A learner model is using mathematical or computational methods to describe the learner's knowledge states, feelings, affect, motivations and other components of the mind.

  15. The learner model is a key component in ITS that represent learners‘ characteristics such as knowledge, skill, ability, motivation, affect cognitive skills, social environments before, during, and after learning.

  16. A learner model is a model that captures the learning progress of the learner over time. (e.g., Transcript, interaction, and responses between the learner and the tutor.

  17. A learner model is a model built from the data generated in the learner's learning process. It covers many characteristics of the student: the mastered and unmastered knowledge, how fast the student learns new knowledge, and so on. Since learning is dynamic, the learner model should be updated frequent enough to represent the current actual situation.

  18. Learner model is a tracking method that captures the learning state of students. According to a learner model, we can understand the knowledge of students and give adaptive feedback
