Human Development in Infancy and Early Childhood

This graduate course in early childhood development will use the biopsychosocial framework to examine stability and change in children aged 0 to 5. Emphasis will be placed on this framework as it interacts with culture to explain typical and atypical development. The course will have three themes: theories relevant to early childhood development; methods of conducting research in this area; and the application of knowledge to preschool education and interventions for preschoolers' social, emotional and behavioral problems. Students will be required to read, write, discuss, and make presentations in English.
